Michael Kent BA (Hons) MA PhD will be with guests throughout the charter and apart from on St. John, will be leading all of the tours. Dr Kent, known to his friends as ‘Mitch,’ was educated in private schools in England before pursuing his degrees at the University of Bristol, culminating with a doctorate in Maritime Archaeology. 

Dr. Kent joined the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College on Tortola in 1998 where he co-wrote the first ever course in Virgin Islands History which he still teaches today as a Principle Lecturer. He also serves on the board of the Old Government House Museum on Tortola, a position he was appointed to personally by His Excellency the Governor of the British Virgin Islands, Mr. Boyd McLeary CMG, CVO. 

For fifteen years, Dr. Kent has been leading tours throughout the Virgin Islands for a variety of people including college students, schoolchildren, local historic societies, Academics Abroad, cruise ship passengers and visiting dignitaries; most recently His Royal Highness Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, during his visit to the Virgin Islands as part of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2012.

The Cuan Law crew consists of seven crewmembers, two of which are diving instructors who can teach the PADI Resort Course should guests choose to dive the Rhone. Dr Kent, both diving instructors and the Captain of Cuan Law are all first aid trained.
